Cardiac Pulsed-Field Ablation

Cardiac pulsed-field ablation uses irreversible electroporation to treat atrial fibrillation and is the largest clinical application of electroporation outside oncology. Its tissue selectivity, which lowers the risk of injury to adjacent structures such as the oesophagus and phrenic nerve, is the same property sought in tumour ablation; the sparing is not absolute. This area falls outside the oncological scope of the portal and does not appear in the indication directory; it is kept in the corpus as context.
